Making your African Dream come true

About Us

Specialists in bespoke African safaris

Eyes on Serengeti Safaris & Tours was born from the experience of its founders. Both with many years of experience in safari guiding and in the management of a company conceived to give clients the best personal service and experience possible.

We try to offer a slightly different approach to safaris. It should not just be an experience during which the goal is to tick off a list of as many animals as possible but more about the smaller details around us, the smells and the sounds that along with a patient attitude will bring you many more rewards and memories to take back home. Get off the beaten track, slow the pace down and take your time with sighting whether it’s a pride of lions, a leopard up in a tree or a simple zebra grazing. This will provide a mix of feelings and emotions that will definitely present you with a different view of what an African Safari really is. Eyes on Serengeti understood years ago that rushing from one sighting to another is not our philosophy.

At Eyes on Serengeti, we only work with the best. The best guides, the best vehicles, and the best customer service. We know that there are many factors involved in the success of a safari but the one thing we are sure of is that if the guide is the right one your experience will be guaranteed. After all, the guide will make the difference between an enjoyable safari and an unforgettable once-in-a-lifetime experience. We prefer to go with the latter.

We are all about sharing our experience with you so whatever it is that you are thinking or planning, share it with us. We will make it happen.

Meet Our Team

Richard Msafiri

Founder, Managing Director

My name is Richard Msafiri but known just as Msafiri. “Karibu Tanzania” is the Swahili way of me saying Welcome to Tanzania.

I was born in a family of Game Rangers in Ngorongoro where I grew up. This famous crater, the Serengeti plains and the Great Migration that occurs every year are the things that give meaning to my life. From a very young age I have worked in tourism helping out in the family business. Later I went for higher education in Tourism and achieved a Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism and Cultural Heritage Management in the University of Dodoma. I have worked in all fields of tourism in Tanzania for different companies. My experience comes from working as a guide, reservation officer and sales consultant. During the last 10 years I have been part of Thomson’s Safaris as a trip manager, Kibo Guides, Tanganyika Wilderness Camps and Maasai Wanderings. Today, I am the Founder and Managing Director of Eyes on Serengeti.

Being a native to this amazing land , the over 10 years experience in the safari industry, and the highly qualified persons working with me assures our customers that we will deliver quality service to make your stay in Tanzania a very memorable one.
Tell me what your dream safari is and I will make it happen for you.

Godwin Ngushway

Head Guide

I will introduce myself as Godwin since this is how everybody knows me. Mario calls me “The Eagle of The Serengeti” which by the way was the inspiration for the name of our company but that’s a whole other story.

I am the Head Guide of Eyes on Serengeti and will be the one making your dream safari happen on the field. Also happily married and father to 2 girls and 2 boys. The family is very important to me and without their support, I could not do what I do. I was born in Arusha in the ’70s and from the very beginning, I was exposed to the incredible nature that makes Tanzania so special. Being a field guide was definitely my calling.

My first steps in guiding took place in Mount Meru but it was in Tarangire National Park and Lake Manyara National Park where I took many field guide courses that made me who I am today. 13 years experience in professional field guiding probably places me among the most experienced guides in Northern Tanzania.
