The stocking-thighed ostrich, the world’s largest bird, might greet you in its party dress of plumes!

Today we depart in the morning and drive across the Maasai Steppe, rift Valley Escarpment to small town of Karatu, Ngorongoro Conservation Area before reaching Serengeti National Park. The seemingly endless Serengeti Plains capture the essence of Africa. They are home to massive numbers of grazing animals and also various predators, and the interaction between the many species often provides some of the best wildlife viewing opportunities in the world.

Today you will start doing game drive all the way from Ngorongoro en-route to Serengeti, enjoy your afternoon game drive in the park, as the animals tend to be more active in the cooler hours of the day. You will usually return to camp during the hotter hours in the middle of the day, where you will enjoy a hearty meal, relax and maybe take a siesta. Depending on wildlife movements and opportunities for sightings, the drive may continue through lunch and last all day.

Early morning breakfast then depart for full day game drives at the northern Serengeti near the Tanzania and Kenya border.

Wildebeest Migration – July to October:
This is the long dry season and the wildebeest migration is moving north with the thundershowers. July, August and September are the months when wildebeest herds cross the crocodile-infested Mara River to reach the Masai Mara. And this provides for some amazing wildlife viewing.

Hundreds of thousands of wildebeest can congregate at crossing points: all crossing in a single continuous wave of beasts. And all this while tooth and claw are waiting around the sides to pick off the weak and the careless.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation: Chaka Camp (North Camp)

After breakfast, we will set off on a full day game drive in the wilderness following the Great Migration trails. Our experienced driver tour guide will provide you with interesting facts about this highly renowned event, which makes Tanzania the top safari destination in Africa.

Serengeti, a UNESCO world heritage site, is home to around 200,000 zebras, and 300,000 Thomson’s gazelles, which join in the wildebeest’s trek for fresh grazing. Listen to the exotic sounds of over six million hooves pounding the open plains. This is just like you imagined Africa to be!

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation: Chaka Camp (North Camp)

We will proceed for a full day game drive viewing the great migration at Mara area. Resident wildlife numbers are exceptionally high in the Wagakuria area. The key feature is the Mara River and there is a great chance to see the herds cross the Mara River to the north on one day and back south a few days later. Please note that it can be very difficult to witness crossing and is sometimes a matter of luck. A herd can be seen next to river and only decide to cross a couple of days later. This area is a stunning region with kopjes, woodland, riverine vegetation and open plains, similar to Kenya’s Maasai Mara Game Reserve.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation: Chaka Camp (North Camp)

Leave very early in the morning and drive to central Serengeti for game viewing before heading Ngorongoro Crater Highlands for dinner and overnight.

The world-famous Ngorongoro Crater is at the eastern edge of the Serengeti in northern Tanzania. Nearly three million years old, the ancient caldera of the once-volcanic Ngorongoro shelters one of the most beautiful wildlife havens on earth, ringed with towering walls and sheltering forests, grasslands, fresh springs and a large soda lake.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation: Ngorongoro Farm House

After breakfast, we drive to the Ngorongoro Crater and descend into it for a half-day of game viewing within the crater. Ngorongoro Crater was formed 3 million years ago and is considered one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World and one of Africa’s most remarkable geological sites. The crater’s ecosystem maintains the historic balance between people and nature in a way that is not possible in other parks. It is inhabited by a unique ecosystem inhabited by 30,000 animals. The Big Five (rhino, elephant, Cape buffalo, lion, leopard) and most of the animal species found in the Serengeti, including giraffes, zebra, hippos, wildebeest, and cheetahs, can be viewed safely at a relatively close range. After lunch, we precede Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight to the next destination or back home.
